The Gear Up Training Programme exists of a 1 week training in Musanze, Huye or Kigali. Highest performing trainees will subsequentally be invited for a 4 week intensive bicycle mechanics training in Kigali, that will take place in the month of October.
Selection criteria for participants in bike mechanics training in Rwanda
Age requirement: Must be 18 years or older.
Educational background: Minimum of Secondary school lower level/ordinary level/O’ level (Tronc Commun). Secondary school upper level (A2) is an added advantage.
Interest and motivation: Demonstrate interest in bike mechanics.
Physical fitness: Ability to perform hands-on mechanical tasks, which may include lifting, kneeling, and working with tools.
Previous experience (if applicable): Experience in basic mechanical work (e.g. bicycle repair, motorcycle repair, metalwork) is an advantage.
Gender inclusiveness: Both male and female candidates are encouraged to apply. Special consideration to promote women’s participation in technical trades.
Commitment: Willingness to attend the full training program and participate in follow-up activities, such as internships.
Note: Being recommended by local authority/community leader, youth cooperative, YEGO centre, or employment service centre could strengthen candidacy.
